Short chainmail

Short chainmail.
Flat riveted rings alterned to full rings, 8 mm diameter.

This is armour is fit to reconstruct a wide array of figures, from Antiquity to at least the Early Middle Ages.

Chainmails of this type, short and without shoulder pieces, are seen already worn by Trajan’s legionaries on the metopae of the Tropaeum Traiani, and were used during Late Antiquity, at least until the Early Middle Ages (e.g. armour from the grave of Gammertingen, 6th century).

Flat rings, alterned with riveted rings, were already known and used at least during Late Antiquity (e.g. the armour from Kranj, Croatia, 4th-6th century AD).
