According to the authors, A.E. Negin, A.A. Kyrychenko (based on iconographic sources and experimental archeology), the helmeted helmets from the 1st century AD they could be used in battle. Masked helmets were mainly used by Roman cavalry in the Imperial era, probably only for the Hippica Gymnasia, spectacular demonstrations for demonstration purposes. They were also used by Signiferi and Vexilliferi. In the case of carriers, the use of this helmet, in addition to the purpose of exhibiting a prestigious equipment and making the appearance more impressive, could also be used to provide a more complete protection, considering the particularly dangerous role and exposed to enemy offense of the same carrier.
