This particular helmet with nasal and neck guard is based on two visual sources: an icon depicting St. George cutting down Diocletian, enemy of Christianity, from Parakheti (Georgia), dated between the 10th and 11th centuries; and a famous chess piece dated between the 11th and 12th centuries, depicting a warrior, perhaps Italo-Norman, now kept at the Cabinet des Medailles in Paris.
Mild steel 1,6 mm, leather interior, mail neckguard.
